The Cherington Course,
Minchinhampton Golf Club

Stroud, GL6 9BE

The Cherington Course was established in 1995 and offers an inland ‘links’ experience set on a more exposed and rugged part of the Minchinhampton site. The existing sand area was small and this was an important characteristic to retain.

As well as the core analysis that forms the Bunker Audit Service particular attention was paid to creating a better tempo to the round taking into account the dramatic impact of wind and fast ground conditions on tee and approach shots.

The overall result is a bunker configuration that better reflects the style of an inland ‘links’ with increased emphasis on the shape and look of the bunkers. Bunker placements better reflect modern ball and club technology while hole strategies have been further defined to add a more challenging climax to the round.
