Sedgley Golf Centre

Sandyfields Road, Dudley, West Midlands, England , DY3 3DL

Project Overview...

Dudley is located between Wolverhampton to the north-west and Birmingham to the east. Anyone who knows this area will know that it is a densely populated area and Sedgley Golf Centre is a pleasant open green space easily accessible to this large number of people.

The project involves the redesign and improvement of the current facilities to create a more diverse and attractive facility. At present the facility consists of a 9-hole course and driving range which attracts a diverse golf community looking to work on and enjoy their golf. When complete the facility will provide a more diverse golf environment that will allow beginners and experienced golfers the opportunity to play and practise in a way they will enjoy and that will offer them an escape from the busy, urban environment.

Site Information...

The golf course is set on a gentle hillside in a mature woodland landscape that affords great views to the south. The layout is generally sound and the course offers good clubbing variation from hole to hole. The facility had suffered from a period of underinvestment and as a result the course conditioning was not what it could be. This was one of the first things addressed by the new owner.

The site at Sedgley offers up the potential for facility expansion but does not allow for the expansion to 18 holes. This has focused the development plans to ensure the customer needs are satisfied. The phased expansion plans include a course upgrade, expanded practise facilities, new short-game area, and a putting course – all open to the public.
