The Avening Course,
Minchinhampton Golf Club

Stroud, GL6 9BE

The Avening Course at Minchinhampton Golf Club was established in 1975 and offers a traditional parkland experience set amongst an ever maturing leafy landscape, which adds character to the challenging layout.

As well as the core analysis that forms the Bunker Audit Service particular attention was paid to the sprawling sand area, which defines the bunkering on the Avening Course. Retaining strategic relevance and sand visibility were important to all proposals but reducing the overall sand area was crucial.

The result is a significant reduction in total sand area, overall a small increase in the total number of bunkers, with proposals that create better defined playing strategies for both lower and higher handicaps.
